Wow - Robbie Stanley & Stanley racecars. That brings back alot of old memories. I drove Stanley 1/4 midgets in the late 70's until 1989. We won the jr 1/2 2 cycle Grands in Langley, B.C. in 1987. We should have won the '85 Grands in Tacoma. We set F.T. with a track record, and blew our Dick Shelton built AA motor warming up for the main. We had a few more bullets in the trailer, and I remember my Dad, Art & Mike Bliss and Dick Shelton scrambling to get that engine in the car. We just missed it by about 1 minute. I still have the clock that they gave me for the track record in a box somewhere. Through the years, we set many track records and won many, many races in our Stanley cars. We did alot of waterskiing and racing carts in the Summer, and points racing wasn't important to my Dad. My Dad still has the car that Jeff Gordon won the Lt. B grands with, hanging in his garage. He bought it from Keith Martin's Dad - I don't even know his name - I was just a kid getting another car. Haha. It's dirty and dusty - but it's there. After 1/4 midgets and carts, we raced sprint cars and supermodifieds around the Western States, from California to Nanaimo, B.C winning alot of races until an eye injury forced me out of the car for about a year in 2002.
Anyway... blah, blah, blah. Life is good. I have a 9 year old son who wants to get in a car and Stanley Racecars is where I looked. Boy, things have changed. You guys still build the best looking cars though. Just looking around on your site and seeing some old pictures really brought back alot of memories. I hope you guys are all doing well. Thanks for being a part of some of my best childhood memories - winning in our Stanley's. LOL ...

My name is Terry and I live in Denver. I am from Indiana and some of my family currently resides in Brownsburg. I love sprint car racing, as a fan, and miss it to some extent living out west. I have been to the tracks in Indiana and followed Robbie's racing. Yesterday, I was viewing some old family VHS tapes that I am having put on DVD and at the end of one of the TV broadcasts that my son's American Legion's team was on was a local Indiana Racing show I had taped. The entire show was an interview with Robbie. I think he was 23 at the time. He talked of his career at that time and his view on several tracks including Winchester. Needless to say it brought back memories. It is great to see that this site exists. Keeping the memories alive is a good thing. Take care.

It has been years since we have been in contact with you. We think of Robbie often---my daughter Ashley--still to this day wears Robbie's t-shirt to the races--from the # 44 sprint car, to the # 47, to his memoiral shirt---

She is now 20 and can some how still fit into a child Large t-shirt---Ashley still has her photo with Robbie hanging on her bedroom wall that tells her to live her dream. My sister made Robbie the # 44-latchhook rug from many years ago. My sister, Tonya France went to a race the other evening in Lawenceburg, Indiana--the 2007 Robbie Stanley Memorial and she stated that there are new t-shirts--to carry on Robbie's name---

We are interested in purchasing new shirts

We still go to the races and every Memorial Day--we think of Robbie's passing---everytime we hear the Dance---Robbie's memory floods us---time has only made us appreicate the love he had for the greatest sport around--sprint car racing!!!

Thank you!!!!! And God Speed!!!!

Eric Wilcox ordered a stanley for me this morning,  A few years ago I
e-mailed a picture of me racing against Robbie at the 1981 Tulsa grands to
ya'll.  We met at that race and I considered him a friend of mine.  I am
very proud that my son Jake will now wheel one of your cars.  I told him
the story last night of Robbie and he was awe struck.  It is neat in a way
that my child can take a little history that his dad shared when he was a
kid with Robbie.  Good luck in Ohio!!

I am happy to see a tribute page for my friend Robbie.

Since you had a email link I'd like to say that to this day I think of Robbie.  Although I do not know them personally I also think of his parents and younger brother.  I hope you and all those close to Robbie have peace in his tragic passing.

I graduated from BHS the same year.  We hung out most of the evening at our 5 year reunion over in Pittsboro.  I moved away from the midwest shortly after college but I will never forget Robbie.  A great guy.

All of you will continue to be in my thoughts and I know he is proud of this award program and your temendous strength.

Best of luck in your racing endeavors!

Dear Stanley Family,

My name is Ashley and I was a big fan of Robbie's.  My uncle, Steve Chambers, would always take me to every race of his at IRP and took me to the shop several times.  I can still remember one race while Robbie was warming up before a heat Steve took me down from the stands and we were standing along the fence and Robbie waved to me as he went past.  I don't know what instilled me to put his name into google this afternoon but I'm glad that I did.  I can still remember the night my parents sat me down to explain to me what happened to him.  I didn't go to school the next day because I was so upset.  He gave me a love for a sport that I have never forgotten.  For awhile I know I gave up because I couldn't stand to look at race cars but I found my love again when I was 16 and haven't forgotten it.    I also remember being upset to hear that you were moving to North Carolina because I knew I could never go to the shop aga in.  I think of you guys everyime I pass it and remember that's where my love of racing came about.  My favorite memory was when he showed me the Busch car.  It was just black at the time but he told me what colors it was going to be and it was going to be painted like my favorite Nascar at the time, the Mello Yellow car.  I still have all of my t-shirts that he signed and will never give any of them up for anything in the world.  I also have my memorial shirt that was given to me.  I have never worn that shirt and never will.  I recently ran across one of my signed posters of him too.  It was a flyer for an IRP race but the picture was Robbie going upside down on his roll cage and sparks flying everywhere.  I hope to someday get most of the stuff framed and put him next to all my Tony Stewart things because he would have been just as good if not better than Tony.  I know Robbie would still be my f avorite today and Tony would be second.  One thing I haven't been able to bring myself to do is to go watch a race at the oval at IRP since my last time watching Robbie race there.  I know it won't be the same.  I worked during a race a couple years later but I couldn't go anywhere near the entrance.  I wasn't aware that there is a memorial there for him.  Now that I know that, I will definately pay a visit just to see the memorial and remember how much fun I always had there.  Anyways, thanks for listening to me ramble.  Robbie was the best driver to me, I've never forgotten him, never will forget him and always wonder what he would have accomplished.  I know he probably would have won a Cup championship by now :)

Sincerely,
Ashley May

Looking at your web site brings back many memories for me.  I raced against Robbie only one time - the Light "B" Modified Main at the 1980 QMA Nationals in Michigan. (I have a video of all of the mains from that year...not the greatest quality).  Although I won the race, I remember being angry that I did not qualify for the Light "A" Modified main.  I watched Robbie win the race and thought it was really amazing that Robbie won the race in a car built by his dad.

As I got older and retired from racing, I always cheered for all of QMA Alumini who were persuing "the dream".  (I was also very jealous  b/c I wanted to chase the dream... but I went on to be a submarine officer in the Navy).  I remember very vividly the day Robbie died.  I was at Williamsgrove Speedway in PA watching a sprint car race.  Since I was on active duty, it was a rare treat to watch a race.  When the PA announcer told everyone of Robbie's death, I remember telling my father: "He died doing what he loved"  Your "no regrets" motto is very fitting.

I am glad that you resumed making quarter midgets.  It is a great sport and I have many unforgettable memories from racing quarter midgets.

I think your are doing a great job in carrying on his legacy.  Let me know if you want a copy of the 1980 Light "A" main.  My VHS tape is very old, but I can try to copy it to DVD.

Take Care,
Scott Dimeler (1976 Jr Stock / 1980 Light "B" QMA National Champion)

Hi Ron, Rita, and Ryan.
Happy New Year.
I think of Robbie quiet often. Remember the garage by the tracks on 267. I just wished I could have put together a sponsorship at the time.  Remember we were talking about changing the Number 44 to C-21. I was working for C-21 at the time.  I don't think Robbie was to keen on the idea. If you might remember I had a video camera, new at the time, and I was always getting video of Robbie.  Still have somewhere.  Specially at Lawerenceburg when Jeff Gordon was running a #13 car. Ryan my memories of you always in the background working on the car, pushing, fueling, tires, cleaning etc. Ron, I remember you with the Fire dept. in Brownsburg. Rita, I remember when you went to Bethesda and Robbie going to my wife, Sharon's 2nd grade sunday school class. But most of all, of seeing Robbie race at the tracks. YES, MEMORIES ARE GOOD.

I have always been a big fan of racing but in particular I have always
been a *huge* fan of Open Wheel (Midget & Sprint Car) racing. Unlike
most people who only have one favorite driver, I always had two favorite
drivers. I watched my two favorite drivers race each and every time
ESPN would air a Midget and/or Sprint Car race, live or pre-recorded. One of
my favorites was a fairly unknown "young upstart" who was originally from
my home state of California. He was still in high school and he was
winning races all over the country. His name was Jeff Gordon. My other favorite
driver was a seasoned "old" veteran named Rich Vogler. His reputation
speaks for itself. As a race fan that never missed a race on TV, I was
watching Thursday Night Thunder on ESPN when Rich Vogler lost his life
in the Red & White #69 car. To say the least, I was *shocked* to see my
hero die before my eyes, quite literally. Eventually another "young
upstart", very reminiscent of Jeff Gordon came along to replace Mr
me for me. Point taken. When Robbie left us his youth only drove the
point home further. Now I have a Grandson who is racing in Quarter Midgets
and it wasn't until just recently that I found out Stanley was making
quarter midgets! Every race team wants to give their driver the best equipment
available and every racing parent wants to give their child the best
equipment available. The Stanley QM chassis has a reputation for being
one of the best Quarter Midgets available so now I once again find myself
facing "the Stanley connection" (we have come full circle)! Some day,
    Robbie. . . some day!

    God Speed Robbie Stanley.
